A Song for the CNMI

"Super Typhoon Yutu made landfall across Tinian and Saipan on Wednesday, dealing a catastrophic blow of damaging winds and torrential rainfall to both islands.

Yutu quickly strengthened from a tropical depression on Sunday into a super typhoon by Wednesday as it became the strongest tropical cyclone so far this year. " - Accuweather.com

" Thousands still do not have access to drinking and tap water as of Saturday, raising concerns about health and sanitation.

"It's Soudelor all over again," according to Rep. Ed Propst, a member of the CNMI House of Representatives.

The lawmaker is referring to Typhoon Soudelor that hit Saipan in 2015 and left the island without water and power for up to four months.

Besides the shutdown of water supply, there's also massive power outage on Saipan, Tinian and Rota as Yutu knocked down hundreds of power poles and related infrastructure." - Pacific Daily News

The people of the Northern Marianas Islands are currently in a state that leaves many without power, clean water and basic needs for living. But in  time of struggle, the people of these islands continue to be strong and find community with each other. Many organizations and locals living abroad have helped create awareness for their families and islands but there is no limit as to how much help and support they need. From us here at thevividvida, we hope that our resources created in the month of November can inform you of the CNMI's current condition as well as move you to help donate or send any form of support to those affected.  Below, our Brand Ambassador Alia has created a cover to the song "Familia-ku" by Ray Romolor. This song talks about the love for one's family - an essential part of the Chamorro culture. Additionally, we've collected information that has several links and places in which you can donate or send supplies to to help the people of the CNMI. Thank you in advanced for your supprot, for watching the video and for taking time to read this.
