STAYING FIT OVER THE HOLIDAyS

Hello my lovely fit-fanatics! Being a college student and finding ways to stay fit can be tough sometimes, especially around the holiday season. I know the struggle, believe me. I thought I’d share with you all, my ways to staying fit and/or active throughout the holidays. Of course, these are tips that work especially for me, so it’s most important to find what works best for you!

Tip #1: Don’t try to create a meal plan. There’s no escaping the endless amounts of ham, turkey, rice, and stuffing -- not to mention the amount of leftovers you’ll be having on the days following Christmas. If staying lean and fit is still your goal throughout the break, you can always try eating cleaner throughout with lean meats and veggies, but it would be a disgrace to everyone if you didn’t let yourself indulge a little. The holidays are a time for happiness and joy, and that’s not possible without a happy tummy!

 

Tip #2: Find a workout buddy with similar goals. It can be tough to stay committed throughout this time. Find someone you know that wants to work out too! You can hit the gym together or at least keep each other accountable. I try to schedule my workouts ahead of time with my trainer, Steve-O. Sometimes I’ll even get in a workout or two with my muscle mama.

 

Tip #3: I know you worked soooo hard throughout the first semester to stay in shape, and you don’t want to lose all of your hard work within one month. Best advice I can give is to be honest with yourself! If you think you can keep a consistent schedule, go for it! If you have a goal that you’re trying to accomplish, don’t let anything stop you! But always remember that your physical health will always be there for you to work on! Make sure you take a break from the day to day stresses to spend time with your family and friends. If you don’t have time to get in a workout, don’t sweat it. If it REALLY means that much to you though, drag a friend or family member to the gym with you to burn off those Christmas calories!
